The Mission Field

Tennessee. A mission field often over looked by many evangelists, pastors, and churches. Why are we not aiming for this field any more?

This week, I have had the priviledge to attend the Tennessee Baptist Convention. The theme this year is “Rescue Now” aiming towards witnessing and ministering to people. Aiming to not just talk about changing lives, but going out and changing lives. So why is it something that has taken a back seat to other ministries? Foreign missions and local missions are both important, but why have we denied our own communities for those away? Is this a selfish ideal that I hold? When Christ spoke to His disciples, He pointed out their mission fields. Jesus began with their home, and then began to grow to the corners of the Earth. He spoke to the idea that we start locally and grow. If we start locally, we can grow a bigger work force to reach the corners of the Earth. So, in my opinion let us start locally!
