Christians often fall into three categories: The bored, broken, or backboned. The bored Christian is either a believer who began to go hard into Christianity, or one who hit the save point and stayed. They tend to either try everything really fast, get involved in everything they can, and burn themselves out; or they don’t get involved and let their blessing run stale. They will find their comfort spot in the church, and remained there, but if someone else comes in and tries to stir it up they lash out. They would rather remain bored. They are the ones who tend to break new Christians’ passion by restricting their worship, their fruits, and their mission. This group tends to claim to be Christian, but lose their first love.
The broken Christian is normally a Christian who had faced trials and tribulations early on, got torn down by a church or other “Christian”, or just faltered so much that they fell and broke on impact. They tend to run to other believers for help, but alas receive none. They slot everyone who claims the title Christian into the same boat of worthlessness when it comes to what a Christian is supposed to be, close the door on their own state of believing, or just put the title in their closet to be used only to ward off other Christians. They might still claim the faith, but the acting on said faith is little to none. They would rather let the religious part of their believing fall to the wayside and just stay cold.
The backboned Christian is a Christian that not only finds their backbone, but also becomes the backbone of the church. Everyone says things like the local business owner or NCO is the backbone of their respected fields, these Christians fall into the same suit. They had been battered, beaten, torn down by Christians, broken by churches, bored out of their minds, but they realized that the “individual” aspect in their faith is not why they believe. The realize that the church is gonna mess up, that humanity isn’t perfect, that doing it all isn’t the reason why the fell in love with The Creator. They stood back up after all that they had been through and took the next step, they grew their backbone. They stand strong, they speak with passion and boldness, they push against the wrongs of the church, and take the new Christians under their wings.
The church can come down to these three Christians. My question is, which one are you?
