How To Kill Your Youth Pastor

Chalk Outline

I have been thinking on this idea for a very long time. I have been warned not to post something like this on a website. I have been told of the dangers. I have seen friends’ ministries die, and thought back on why the ministries died so quickly. I thought back to what I had learned in school, and finally came to a conclusion. You can kill a Youth Pastor’s Ministry in 3 easy steps: Destroy their name, Destroy the kids trust, and Destroy the faith of the Church. This is also how a Youth Pastor can destroy their own ministry, but more often then not it seems that others in the church use these actions to run someone off.

Destroy Their Name: This method is done by rumors and gossip. Taking teachings out of context and using them as dynamite in the strong structure of a ministry. As I teach my kids when reading the Bible, CONTEXT IS KEY. When we fall into the temptation of gossiping about others and fall into the Fake News ideology, we start to become as bad as the world. We are meant to be in the world not of the world, but yet we keep falling for the worldly tricks. Gossip runs the Youth Pastor’s name through the mud, but wouldn’t it be easier to light it on fire? We can use accusations and boom goes the dynamite.

Destroy the kids trust: Taking the last step and causing accusations only takes one more step to get to this area. Convince the kids. Kids are smart, they are going to do the research. I have seen kids go and ask pastors about the accusations, or stand up for their pastor, or destroy all accusations with truth and love. However, it only takes one kid to ruin the whole bunch. Convincing one child ends the whole ministry in a heart beat.

Destroy the faith of the church: Now that the kids are convinced and the lies are spread, now you just need to make it aware in the church. Telling a church that their Youth Pastor is a demon is easy to do. The church may not be fully active in the ministry, they may not see all that the Youth Pastor does, they may just be sheep in a pew. Once you can get them to follow you and your madness then the Youth Pastor is as good as cattle to the slaughter.

“Pastor Wayne, why would you tell people how to ruin your ministry?” For one reason alone, it is common knowledge. I have seen too many ministries now that have fallen for reasons of gossip and false accusations and it is scary. To think that pastors are taught to not be alone with anyone besides their family. It is a sad thing to think about. I understand that Youth Pastors have done some bad stuff in the past, but the fact is that there is more firings on the basis of false accusations than legitament claims. We see too many people fired, because of the fear that was established in the congregation. Maybe we need to back up our Pastors and stop giving in to the fear mentality.

To those who make it a habit to run off pastors, stop. You are doing nothing but damaging the Church and the Kingdom. You may be the reason why ministers run from the pulpit now, or that they are put on hard times. If you got fired from a job for no reason you would sue or call a union rep, two things pastors cannot easily do. Love thy neighbor, even if that is your pastor. If you have a quarrel with the pastor go to them and talk it out. If you have legitament reasons to go against the pastor, then do so in a scriptural manner. Do not cause discord in the church just for the fun of it or your personal gain.
