There’s A Sermon In That

Have you ever thought about where pastors get their sermons? The initial thought would be through prayer and study, devotionals, situations in life, a sermon they heard and wanted to have a take on, sermon websites (Yes they exist), or nature itself. All which are followed with more prayer and more study or at least they should be. All these are ways pastors get their inspiration delivered from God; however, my all time favorite way is through conversation with members of creation.

I will be in conversation with friends and colleagues and the phrase “There’s a sermon in that” may come out of my mouth. I enjoy the way God can be dealing with something in my life and I am just being super stubborn about listening, then a friend of mine will say exactly what I needed to hear or a great take on an idea that I have been wrestling with and then BOOM!!!! I realize God was trying to show me a wonderful sermon.

I think about this concept of finding sermons in conversation a lot. While trying to figure out what I wanted to write about for this blog post, I have reached out to my sister and brother-in-law. I asked them for ideas and this subject was presented in the conversation. It truly shows that sometimes when you are trying to figure out what to do God tends to make sure you hear God’s answer.

I want to present to you this sermons series as I begin to write out sermons on this blogosphere. I hope that it will be beneficial to you and I know that it will be good practice for me.
